DR. MKO BALOGUN, MIoD

Dr MKO Balogun finished as a graduate of Mechanical Engineering (Automotive) B.Eng. (Hons) from Federal University of Technology Owerri, Imo State in 1995.

MKO attended the Lagos Business School of Pan Atlantic University for his Executive MBA in 2004 and graduated in 2006. He started his Ph.D. degree in Entrepreneurship in 2012 at Walden University, US, in December 2012.

In 2012 December he was honoured among other Nigerians in faraway Dubai with a Ph.D. in Management by Commonwealth University, Belize.

His work experience has taken him round various organisations, industry sectors and functions. and he always leave indelible marks of achievement on his trail, everywhere he has been, the experiences prepared him for his entrepreneurial sojourn and focus on facilities management, from Technical Adviser on Peugeot Products at NMI-CFAO, to Production-vehicle Assembly, Marketing and Aftersales Manager at General Motors Nigeria; Marketing Manager at Leventis; Project & Facilities Manager at Mr. Biggs Restaurant Chain of over 700 shops; Asst. GM at Bemil Security in charge of guards, manufacturing and maintenance where he pioneered armoured vehicle production in Nigeria, he joined UBA where was in charge of the transformation of UBA Hose, a 60,000 square meter 27 floor building in Lagos, and finally as Facilities Manager at Murtala Airport Local Wing in Lagos Nigeria is last job as an employee.

MKO left paid employment in 2008 to focus and grow his enterprise, Domme FM Ltd.

MKO is the GMD/CEO Global Property & Facilities International Ltd, and was MD of WSP FMC Nigeria, a position he took after the merger of Domme FM Ltd with WSP FMC Nigeria Ltd in 2012.

He has grown the business from a local Nigerian company to a company spreading across Africa with operations across 8 African Countries, he has also grown and stabilize the business since taking over in 2012 taking the company through mergers and rebranding.

GPFI has grown to be one of the most respected Real Estate Service brand in Africa.

He is a member of the board of directors of Premier Paints Plc and the Chairman of the strategy committee of the board, among others, he is also a as an Adjunct lecturer for the Masters in Facilities Management Program at the department of Estate Management, School of Environmental Sciences, University of Lagos since the inception of the program commenced in 2009.

MKO is a recipient of many awards and recognitions from all over the world, including FM Personality of the Year – Africa, 3-time best FM CEO Award Nigeria – Real Estate Awards Nigeria., 2-Time Africa FM CEO Award

– Acquisition International UK among others.

As a facilities manager, and popularly called Mr. Facilities, MKO holds the prestigious Certified Facilities Manager CFM qualification, of IFMA, the founder of the African Facilities Management Institute, major speaker at various international FM and Building Industry programs in Nigeria, Ghana, Dubai, SA, attended various international FM conferences in US, Dubai, Ghana, Nigeria.

His area of focus in recent times is Sustainable Urban Design and Development and Facility Management

He is a member/fellow/leader of many professional associations and bodies, among which are Member, African FM Network, Former Executive, Nigeria FM Initiative, Nigerian Institute of Management, Fellow, Institute of Direct Marketing, President, African Council of Direct Marketing Registration Board, Member Institute of Directors, Nigeria.
